SUMMARY:First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing
DESCRIPTION:Join Mitzi Rapkin as she interviews author Torrey Peters at TACAW. Mitzi is the founder\, host and producer of the literary podcast\, “First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing\,” which features a new author interview each week. She has interviewed more than 500 contemporary writers of fiction\, nonfiction\, essays\, and poetry over the past eleven years. Her conversations explore essential questions about what it means to be human alongside the craft of writing and the themes of the writers’ works. Rapkin is also a journalist\, fiction writer\, certified integral coach\, facilitator\, and fiction-writing instructor.  \nGENRE: PANEL \nFirst Draft: A Dialogue on Writing is a literary podcast produced and hosted by Mitzi Rapkin. Each week the podcast features an in-depth interview with a fiction\, non-fiction\, essay\, or poetry writer. The show is equal parts investigation into the craft of writing and conversation about the topics of an author’s work. \nABOUT STAG DANCE \nIn this collection of one novel and three novellas\, Torrey Peters’s keen eye for the rough edges of community and desire push the limits of trans writing. In Stag Dance\, the titular novel\, a group of restless lumberjacks working in an illegal winter logging outfit plan a dance that some of them will volunteer to attend as women. When the broadest\, strongest\, plainest of the axmen announces his intention to dance as a woman\, he finds himself caught in a strange rivalry with a pretty young jack\, provoking a cascade of obsession\, jealousy\, and betrayal that will culminate on the big night in an astonishing vision of gender and transition.Three startling novellas surround Stag Dance: “Infect Your Friends and Loved Ones” imagines a gender apocalypse brought about by an unstable ex-girlfriend. In “The Chaser\,” a secret romance between roommates at a Quaker boarding school brings out intrigue and cruelty. In the last novella\, “The Masker\,” a party weekend on the Las Vegas strip turns dark when a young crossdresser must choose between two guides: a handsome mystery man who objectifies her in thrilling ways\, or a cynical veteran trans woman offering unglamorous sisterhood.Acidly funny and breathtaking in its scope\, with the inventive audacity of George Saunders or Jennifer Egan\, Stag Dance provokes\, unsettles\, and delights. \n \n Click Here To Learn More\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Torrey Peters is the author of the novel Detransition\, Baby\, which won the 2021 PEN/Hemingway award for debut fiction and was named a Best Book of the Century by the New York Times. Her second book\, Stag Dance\, will publish in March of 2025 \nTorrey is an amateur sauna builder\, rides a pink motorcycle\, and lives in Brooklyn and an off-grid cabin in Vermont. \nLearn more about Torrey Peters: WEBSITE / INSTAGRAM / TWITTER

SUMMARY:Theatre Aspen: Solo Flights – Ghost Tour
DESCRIPTION:Win a Black Diamond Pass to AGSW 2026 by entering the in-person raffle at this performance!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Get Directions To Hurst\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Written By: Gordon GreenbergDirected by: Stephen BrackettStarrring: TBD \nIn Ghost Tour\, a sardonic out-of-work actor returns to his Florida hometown to host a haunted theatre tour—only to be haunted by his own past. As fact blurs with fiction\, the tour becomes a hilarious\, heart-wrenching deep dive into love\, loss\, queerness\, and the ghosts we carry. SUMMARY:Jonathan Parks-Ramage – First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing
DESCRIPTION:Get Directions To TACAW\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Genre: PANEL \nFirst Draft: A Dialogue on Writing is a literary podcast produced and hosted by Mitzi Rapkin. Each week the podcast features an in-depth interview with a fiction\, non-fiction\, essay\, or poetry writer. The show is equal parts investigation into the craft of writing and conversation about the topics of an author’s work. \nABOUT IT’S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD \nIt’s 2044 and life is bleak for many Americans\, but not for Mason Daunt. Safe in his Los Angeles mansion\, Mason can remain blissfully unaware of the relentless wildfires engulfing California\, the proliferation of violent right-wing militias\, and the rampant authoritarianism destroying American society. He’s so rich\, in fact\, that he and his partner Yunho Kim are throwing a 100-person\, $100\,000 baby shower to celebrate their newborn-on-the-way. When a potentially apocalyptic event hits Los Angeles on the day of their celebration\, though\, the wealthy gay couple refuses to cancel their party. Surely it’s not the end of the world? But as Mason runs a few last-minute errands\, a staggering twist thrusts him into the mounting chaos\, and threatens the lives of everyone he holds dear. \nShot through with biting wit\, brutal gore\, primal sex\, and unexpected catharsis\, It’s Not the End of the World is a nerve-shredding roller coaster of a novel that will leave readers shocked\, heartbroken\, and inspired to question their most firmly held convictions. What happens when our current battles with climate change\, capitalism\, and white supremacy are pushed to their breaking points? And how can we find hope? \n \n RSVP HERE\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jonathan Parks-Ramage is a Los Angeles based novelist\, playwright\, screenwriter and journalist. His critically acclaimed debut novel YES\, DADDY (HarperCollins) was named one of the best queer books of 2021 by Entertainment Weekly\, NBC News\, The Advocate\, Lambda Literary\, Bustle\, Goodreads and more. YES\, DADDY was also optioned for television by Amazon Studios. He was the co-creator of the recent Off-Broadway musical THE BIG GAY JAMBOREE and was nominated for a Lucille Lortel award and Drama Desk Award. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Mitzi Rapkin is the founder\, host and producer of the literary podcast\, “First Draft: A Dialogue on Writing\,” which features a new author interview each week. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Programs that support Q+ Ideas and community.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About AspenOUT\nAspenOUT is dedicated to empowering the LGBTQIA+ (Q+) community and their families across the Roaring Fork Valley\, nationwide and worldwide via digital curricula. SUMMARY:Queer Asterisk Presents – ENGENDER: Room For The Rest
DESCRIPTION:RSVP ONLINE\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n This year’s Engender Gala invites you into Room for the Rest — an exploration of the asterisk as a symbol of what so often gets left out. \nThe asterisk in Queer Asterisk’s name is an opening\, a reminder that everything about you belongs\, even the parts that feel unseen\, unspoken\, or out of place. \nAt Engender you’ll hear what it means to make “room for the rest” from Yvie Oddly\, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race\, as well as enjoy a dance performance\, spoken word poetry\, staff reflections\, and a community ceremony\, as we gather to celebrate queer expansiveness and affirm that what doesn’t fit the mold is not only welcome\, but vital to our collective wholeness.  \nThis event is for everyone who wants to feel more deeply connected to queerness — not just as an identity\, but as a way of being that honors uniqueness\, authenticity\, and freedom. \nRegistration is free! Everyone is welcome.  \nWhen you register\, you’ll also have the opportunity to make a donation — and you can give again during the event. Every gift directly supports affordable\, accessible queer and trans mental health services in Colorado. \nBy supporting queer mental health\, you are investing in a world where all people can show up more fully as themselves.  \nQueer healing invitees us all into more freedom\, belonging\, and courage that benefit us all. \nNow more than ever\, as our communities face ongoing political and legislative attacks\, this work is essential. Your support ensures that queer and trans people have spaces of healing\, connection\, and joy. \nJoin us on October 9th\, 2025 for an evening of art\, reflection\, and community care. Together\, we will make more room for the rest. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Programs that support Q+ Ideas and community.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About AspenOUT\nAspenOUT is dedicated to empowering the LGBTQIA+ (Q+) community and their families across the Roaring Fork Valley\, nationwide and worldwide via digital curricula. DESCRIPTION:Find Tickets to AGSW 2026\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n 🏳️‍🌈 Aspen Gay Ski Week: Skiing\, Snowboarding\, Celebration\, and Pride!\nAspen Gay Ski Week (AGSW) is a week-long\, high-energy festival held every January in Aspen and Snowmass\, Colorado. Think of it as a combination of a major ski/snowboarding trip\, a fabulous Pride celebration\, and a massive social gathering\, all set against the backdrop of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. \nIt’s the oldest and largest annual LGBTQ+ ski event in the nation\, drawing thousands of people from around the world. \n⛷️ The Vibe: What’s it Like?\nThe atmosphere is incredibly welcoming\, inclusive\, and festive. While the name says “ski week\,” it’s not just for expert skiers—it’s a social vacation where everyone in the LGBTQ+ community and their allies can feel safe and celebrated. \nDuring the Day: People hit the slopes! Attendees can gain access to the four mountains of Aspen Snowmass\, offering skiing\, snowboarding\, cross-country skiing\, and snowshoeing. There are often organized groups like “Mountain du Jour” to help people explore. No worries if you don’t ski or snowboard; there is plenty to do\, with fabulous restaurants\, shopping\, and more. \nAprès-Ski & Night: This is where the Pride celebration truly shines. As soon as the slopes close\, the town comes alive with an endless schedule of social events\, parties\, and entertainment. \n🌟 Signature Events & Activities\nThe week is packed with structured events and spontaneous fun. Some of the most popular highlights include: \nDaily Après-Ski: The official daily happy hour/social gathering is a huge draw\, often featuring drinks\, music\, and socializing right after a day on the mountain. Hosted at the Limelight Hotel Aspen. \nThemed Parties: Expect major nightly events\, which often include famous parties like the Top of the Mountain Party (a massive dance party atop Aspen Mountain) and a large Pool Party Finale. \nEntertainment: The week features stand-up comedy shows\, film screenings\, concerts\, and of course\, Drag Queen Bingo. \nDownhill Costume Contest: A beloved tradition where contestants ski down the mountain in wildly creative costumes\, judged by drag queens and celebrities. \nFriendship Dinners & Socials: Opportunities to meet people and dine at some of Aspen’s fantastic restaurants. \n🙏 More Than a Party: A Fundraiser \nA significant part of Aspen Gay Ski Week is its mission. The event serves as AspenOUT’s annual fundraiser. \nIn short\, it’s a unique and iconic winter experience that successfully blends world-class skiing with non-stop partying and a meaningful commitment to LGBTQ+ advocacy. \n \n See Full Schedule\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Programs that support Q+ Ideas and community.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About AspenOUT\nAspenOUT is dedicated to empowering the LGBTQIA+ (Q+) community and their families across the Roaring Fork Valley\, nationwide and worldwide via digital curricula. Since 2019\, she has called the Roaring Fork Valley home\, where she enjoys hiking or Nordic skiing with her poodle\, Zulu\, and cherishes moments with her teenage daughter—especially road trips and crafting sessions. \nMyki Jones (They/She) Myki has been writing in the Roaring Fork Valley since 2021. With experience both on stage and behind the notebook\, they find joy in creating and amplifying others’ voices through reporting and their work with The Empowered Voice magazine. Their ongoing\, beautifully messy journey of identity fuels their hope to inspire others toward self-love\, safety\, and the freedom to hold all the “chaos” that makes them who they are. \nKathy Potter Kathy lived in the Roaring Fork Valley for nearly 25 years\, raising her two children in Basalt and embracing the LGBTQ+ community throughout her life. When her son Jack came out in 7th grade\, Kathy and their family welcomed him with full acceptance. After losing Jack to suicide in 2023\, Kathy continues to champion mental health and LGBTQ+ youth through the Jack Raife Mental Health Fund\, in partnership with AspenOUT. Now living in Southport\, NC\, she remains deeply involved in Pride events\, Aspen Gay Ski Week\, and ongoing advocacy work\, offering support\, visibility\, and plenty of mom hugs wherever they’re needed. \nZack Ford (he/him) Zack is an 18-year-old transgender man who has lived throughout the valley\, including Rifle\, Basalt\, and Glenwood. A senior at Yampah Mountain High School\, he is an artist and singer with plans to study psychology or law. In the year ahead\, he hopes to overcome fear and begin sharing his art\, writing\, and music with the world. \n  \n100% of ticket sales will benefit local non-profit AspenOut. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Get in Touch.
