ROC DOC Film Camp with Aspen Film is headed to Basalt! SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVALABLE. During this two-week immersive camp, you will: • Make a short documentary film + a music video featuring students from the Rock and Roll Academy Roaring Fork • Learn filmmaking skills — storytelling, videography, editing, sound design + mixing • Use professional filmmaking equipment and editing software • Be part of a creative team • See your film on the big screen at Movieland • Have fun! Theatre Aspen has generously donated 30 tickets to PFLAG see the rock musical RENT on Saturday, August 12th! Dinner is included. Please RSVP to info@pflagrfv.org buy August 1st. Please be advised that some of the content could be distressing for younger viewers, or triggering for others - the story follows people in the 1990s who are living with drug addiction, HIV and AIDS, poverty. AspenOUT is thrilled to announce the launch of our new Leadership & Scholarship Program. We are now accepting applications from Juniors and Seniors from Aspen High School, Basalt High School, Roaring Fork High School, CRMS and Glenwood High School. Leadership training will be based on a therapeutic recreation model and delivered by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Leadership Training will be 2 hours once a month from October through May. All participants who complete the program and the identified responsibilities will receive a $5,000 scholarship for college ($1,250 a year for four years) or vocational school (paid out based on number of years). Find the full program description HERE. Goals: 1. Empower young leaders to promote tolerance, inclusivity, compassion, and LGBTQ rights. 2. Strengthen the Gender & Sexualities (GSA) Clubs at involved area high schools. 3. Strengthen communications and fun interactions between high school GSAs in the Valley. 4. Provide scholarships for these leaders to attend college or vocational school. The application deadline is September 8, 2023 APPLY NOW HERE!

Join G4G Rocky Mountains as we once again partner with LiftUp to help those with food insecurities. SIGN UP HERE We are back in Glenwood this month to help those in need. We need volunteers to help prepare a meal and serve it to patrons coming in. Food needs to be soft in nature since many of the people have dental issues. Date: Monday, August 28, 2023 Time: 4:30pm-6:30pm Location: First United Methodist Church, 824 Cooper Ave, Glenwood (Entrance to basement is in rear of building) Additional Details: Donations would also be welcomed: Patrons have toiletry needs (think small bottles of body wash, deodorant, shampoo, etc.), small cans or bags of cat food and/or dog food is also encouraged since many have pet companions as well. Additionally, if you have any clothing you’d like to donate, bring that as well! We can always use bags of ice, bottled water or if someone would like to donate reusable water bottles (that’s even better), and to-go containers. Gay For Good mobilizes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) and ally volunteers to promote diversity, foster inclusion and strengthen ties to the broader community. |
