AspenOUT and Pitkin County Library offer a screening of 2022's BLUE JEAN, an unflinching look at how a British lesbian's life is affected by homophobia. $10 at the door, FREE popcorn. England, 1988 -- Margaret Thatcher's Conservative government is about to pass a law stigmatizing gays and lesbians, forcing Jean, a gym teacher, to live a double life. Gay for Good Rocky Mountains is partnering with the Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation to help clean their resident bobcat cages by scraping up old bedding, hosing, disinfecting, and placing new bedding. Volunteers may also help rewrap bird perches with rope which helps prevent a foot infection called bumblefoot that's common in captive birds and clean some of their resident bird cages as well. Volunteers will receive a tour of the facility and get to the other residents housed at the facility. Our work will directly impact the bobcats, eagles, and black bird populations at the facility. Date: Sunday, August 27th, 2023 Time: 8:30am-12:30pm Location: 5945 County Road 346, Silt, Co Additional Details: Please wear clothes that can dirty and sturdy, close-toed shoes. Space is limited to 12 volunteers so we kindly ask that you only sign up if you are sure you can attend. If you reserve a spot and your plans change, please let us know so we can open the slot to another volunteer. RSVP Here
Join G4G Rocky Mountains as we once again partner with LiftUp to help those with food insecurities. SIGN UP HERE We are back in Glenwood this month to help those in need. We need volunteers to help prepare a meal and serve it to patrons coming in. Food needs to be soft in nature since many of the people have dental issues. Date: Monday, August 28, 2023 Time: 4:30pm-6:30pm Location: First United Methodist Church, 824 Cooper Ave, Glenwood (Entrance to basement is in rear of building) Additional Details: Donations would also be welcomed: Patrons have toiletry needs (think small bottles of body wash, deodorant, shampoo, etc.), small cans or bags of cat food and/or dog food is also encouraged since many have pet companions as well. Additionally, if you have any clothing you’d like to donate, bring that as well! We can always use bags of ice, bottled water or if someone would like to donate reusable water bottles (that’s even better), and to-go containers. Gay For Good mobilizes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) and ally volunteers to promote diversity, foster inclusion and strengthen ties to the broader community.
